Amber appeared at Collectormania in the UK this weekend, and we were lucky enough to get a few minutes to speak to her about Drones. She told us that they’re almost finished cutting the movie together, and was very excited about Jonathan’s involvement. In her words; “he’s the lead, he’s in every scene”, and she was keen to mention that “he’s really good - he’s like a young Bill Murray!”

She happily chatted about the movie, and pointed us towards this article from the Baton Rouge based 225 Magazine to share with you guys.

Before leaving, we jokingly asked her if Jonathan dies in this one, and she laughed, telling us that no, it’s not a dying type of movie. “But I die all the time too,” she grinned. “So I feel his pain.”‘

Jonathan has been confirmed as a guest for next year’s FedCon. The event will be taking place at the Hotel Maritim in Bonn, Germany, on May 1st-3rd 2009.

“FedCon, short for FederationCon, is Europe’s greatest STAR TREK convention that gradually evolved into Europe’s largest Sci-Fi related event. Created by a young Dirk Bartholomae over 16 years ago, the first meeting was held in Augsburg where its facility proved to be too small and eventually moved to Munich. After the crowds proved to be again too small, Dirk moved his convention to Bonn, Germany, and then again to it’s new home in Fulda only to return back to Bonn for FedCon XVI. FedCon is a liscensed event recognized and approved by Paramount Pictures’ legal department.”

Jonathan will be attending Starfury: T1 from 26-28 April 2009. The event will be taking place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, and covers Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Dollhouse, Chuck and Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.

Scheduled so far to appear alongside Jonathan are Adam Baldwin & Zachary Levi (Chuck), Amy Acker (Dollhouse) and Felicia Day (Dr Horrible), as well as Buffy comic book artist Georges Jeanty.

Tickets will go onsale from 1st September 2008.

Starfury organiser Sean Harry has uploaded two video clips from his recent conventions onto YouTube. You can see Jonathan featured in both of them - one from October’s Serenity Infinity (guests were Jonathan, Nectar Rose, Richard Brooks, Morena Baccarin, Neil Roberts and Ellen Muth) and one from February’s Buffy/Angel con, The Chosen (where the guests were Jonathan, Vincent Kartheiser, Juliet Landau, Keith Szarabajka, Georges Jeanty, Neil Roberts and Elisabeth Rohm).

After an afternoon of internet based detective work, IMDB is still the only place with any cast listed. However I have managed to dig up a little more about the production itself - a Louisiana Media Productions project, Drones is scheduled to start production in Baton Rouge later this month. Directed by Buffy’s Amber Benson and Adam Busch, and is described by Film Baton Rouge as “a comedy in the vein of Office Space“.

The synopsis reads as follows: “When Brian walks in on his best friend’s closet time, he discovers a universal threat to his life, job and the Earth itself!”

According to IMDB, Jonathan has been cast in a movie named “Drones” playing a character named Brian. Written by Ben Acker & Ben Blacker, the film is listed as a comedy and is currently in pre-production. More updates as and when we get them!

Next Wednesday, April 30th, Jonathan will be hosting a fundraising event for Barack Obama at Mona’s in New York (21 and over only). From the event page:

“In anticipation of the upcoming May 3rd primary in Guam, Mona’s, an East Village Institution, will be hosting a campaign fundraiser for the rest of us! Come support the campaign with downtown performers, artists, writers, and musicians. Food, and live music will be waiting.”
